Senior Living Hospitality Group President and CEO Fred Zarrilli sat down with Josh Crisp and Lucas McCurdy, hosts of Bridge the Gap – a podcast dedicated to informing, educating, and influencing the future of housing and services for seniors.
In this interview, Fred shared the vision behind Senior Living Hospitality Group. At its core, the mission is simple: bring attentiveness, attention to detail, and a genuine personal touch to every resident, every day. For Fred and his team, hospitality goes far beyond luxury. “It’s about attention to all aspects of what makes for a wholesome life,” he said.
Storytelling drives that vision — because people don’t just hear hospitality; they feel it. “Storytelling is the framework of hospitality,” Fred explained. “Telling a story isn’t just words conveyed across a table. It’s what a person feels from the moment they walk in the door. How are they greeted? What did they see? What did they smell? What did they hear? Every little piece tells a story.” And when it comes to the residents themselves, the goal is clear: “Bringing a full, wholesome combination of opportunities for them to live every day to their fullest is what it’s about.”
That philosophy lives and breathes through the people who deliver it every day. Fred believes in building a culture where every employee, from the front desk to the dining room, feels empowered to listen, respond, and act. “If you hear a resident say, ‘Boy, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a hot fudge sundae’ – well, you’re empowered to go make that happen. It’s the little things that add up.”
