The Individual Made Visible: Collage, Drawing, and Mixed Media
Tuesday, April 7 | Reception begins at 3 pm
3030 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604
Explore works that celebrate individuality through texture, form, and expression. Maj Kalfus’s mixed-media pieces reveal the human presence behind every mark and material.
Guided by W. H. Auden’s belief that “the way to be universal is to be individual,” Maj Kalfus creates work that is diverse in subject matter, materials, and technique. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she began her creative career in fashion illustration and design after studying at the High School of Art and Design, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and the School of Visual Arts, later transitioning back into fine art through the Studio Arts Program at SUNY Empire State College, where she graduated with honors. Her work spans painting, collage, drawing, illustration, and digital media, often drawing inspiration from travel, family, landscapes, animals, and social themes. For nearly two decades in Columbia County, NY, Maj was an active member of the Hudson Valley arts community, curating and participating in numerous group and solo exhibitions, and teaching widely across colleges and arts organizations. Since moving to Connecticut, she has continued teaching weekly art classes at 3030 Park while focusing her studio practice on collage, portraiture, and drawing.
Please RSVP by Wednesday, April 1st.
